Just Another Asshole in the Rain
Listen

The Story

You Irish types might appreciate this. Sweet Linda and I were living up on the hill down Shrewsbury Terrace in Cork City, Eire. The rain, ya see, offered much inspiration, including this song I've been meaning to get back to, Kinsale. "Just Another......", however, pretty much just wrote itself.

I mean, like, this is existential Country. New genre.

Just Another Asshole in the Rain - Lyrics

© Joe Muldoon

I close your door, I shake my head, I sigh with sad regret
Walk through the gloom of a lone street light, trying to forget
I’ve seen it done in movies, it seems to ease the pain, but l’m
Just another asshole in the rain.

When Humphrey Bogart lost that girl, he got himself a light
Had smoke, made a joke, and walked off in the night
But my cigarettes get soggy, and my shoes are gettin’ stained (and I’m)(
Just another asshole in the rain.

The hero always walks a while in the misty evening breeze
I try to imitate his style but, I always start to sneeze

So I’ll get something else instead, to keep me company
A little aspirin for my head and little hot whiskey tea
And I guess I’ll just accept my fate, when it’s been made so plain (that I’m)
Just another asshole in the rain.

When Humphrey Bogart lost that girl, he got himself a light
Had smoke, made a joke, and walked off in the night
But my cigarettes get soggy, and my shoes are gettin’ stained (and I’m)(
Just another asshole in the rain.
I guess I’ll just accept my fate, when it’s been made so plain (that I’m)
Just another asshole in the rain.
